Broadband Systems Corporation, PLC (BSC) is a licensed Internet Service Provider (ISP) that is incorporated under the laws and regulations of the Republic of Rwanda.

The company is engaged in the business of providing advanced Information Communication Technology (“ICT”) services based on broadband connectivity.

In order to effectively accomplish its business objectives, BSC PLC is looking for qualified and competent candidate to fill a position of “Junior RF & Backhaul Engineer”.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

Position: Junior RF & Backhaul Engineer

Department: Technical Department

Directly Reports to: RF & Backhaul Manager

Indirectly reports to: SM. Backbone & Network service delivery 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for maintaining uptime and quality of the network (both media & equipment) segment assigned to him/her by undertaking periodic preventive maintenance activities
  • Analyzing RF equipment and suggesting improvements
  • Ensure effective fault management in case of fault occurrence and periodic upgrades, capacity augmentation of transmission network as per transmission plan with no/ minimal disruption of services
  • Responsible for maintaining uptime and quality of the network (both media & equipment) segment assigned to him/her by undertaking periodic preventive maintenance activities
  • Ensure effective fault management in case of fault occurrence and periodic upgrades, capacity augmentation of transmission network as per transmission plan with no/ minimal disruption of services
  • Assist in the design and development of the network services architecture and implementation of new network infrastructure, including preliminary design, calculations, equipment selection leading to an effective running network.
  • Perform configuration, installation, and support of Transmission network infrastructure.
  • Deal with Hosted Collaboration services and provide the required support and participate in new projects roll out as well as upgrading the existing network.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, testing, supports, regular maintenance and new connections within BSC transmission systems and HCAAS (Hosted Collaboration as A Service) particularly, and assist operations unit when required.
  • Ensure availability of efficiency design, installation, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, restoration and prevention methods for the transmission network & maintain a database containing all network connections and elements of the documentation
  • Continually seek opportunities to increase BSC’s clients’ satisfaction and deepen client relationship
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives, where applicable.
  • Any task that will be assigned by line manager. 

IT’S IMPORTANT THAT YOU HAVE:

  • To demonstrate time management and organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks and projects with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain ongoing communication within the team and to the external support, to keep all stakeholders aware of relevant, known issues and the steps being taken
  • Ability to evaluate and report on regular basis, jointly with QA & Senior Engineer (and particularly in accordance to the contract in place with customers, partners and other relevant stakeholders) the network performance and therefore to enhance availability for all active services with agreed frequency and time scales

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunications, Computer Sciences, IT, or related field.
  • Having skills on Network transmission systems with at least 2 years of experience
  • Ability to clearly summarize and report the performed activities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
